HH Digest is a hydrochloric acid (HCL) supplement without any additives.  It supplements any inadequate stomach production of HCL, which is needed for the digestion of proteins.  L-glutamic acid is used as the carrier molecule for HCl in this supplement.  

HCL, an acidic gastric juice, is needed for breaking down protein in the stomach.  It also signals the release of bile from the liver and enzymes from the pancreas to support digestion of carbohydrates and fats.  Low levels of HCL and other gastric juices can lead to gas, bloating, heartburn, acid reflux symptoms, and bacterial overgrowth in the gut.
